Summary: npm run deploy failed because unescaped backticks inside a template-literal console message in scripts/deploy-site.mjs terminated the string early.

[try to solve]
Context
npm run deploy finished build:site, lint:seo, and lint:vendor, then crashed at node scripts/deploy-site.mjs with:
SyntaxError: missing ) after argument list
The parser pointed at line 60, highlighting .assetsignore inside a Chinese sentence about OG bitmaps and Cloudflare Assets.
Process
- Opened
scripts/deploy-site.mjsaround the reported line. - Found
printGithubDeployNextSteps()logs a multi-line template literal (console.log(\...`)`). - Line 60 used Markdown-style backticks around
.assetsignoreandog/tools/inside that template literal. - Confirmed no other copies of those backtick-wrapped paths existed under
scripts/. - Removed the inner backticks (paths still read clearly in a console dump) and ran
node --check scripts/deploy-site.mjs.
Root cause / analysis
In JavaScript, a backtick starts and ends a template literal. Nested unescaped backticks are not treated as characters; they close the string. After .assetsignore the parser was already outside the template, so 会排除 looked like a syntax error (missing ) after argument list).
The comment itself was accurate (Git may store OG bitmaps; .assetsignore still keeps og/tools/ out of the Cloudflare Assets upload). Only the quoting was illegal in a template string.
Alternatives that would also work: escape as \`path\`, or switch the console.log to a regular string / array of lines. Stripping the Markdown ticks is the least noisy for a terminal message.
Solution
Changed line 60 from backtick-wrapped paths to plain .assetsignore / og/tools/. node --check scripts/deploy-site.mjs exits 0.
Because predeploy already succeeded in the same terminal session, a full npm run deploy is not required to retry the upload/verify half. From the repo root:
node scripts/deploy-site.mjs
or re-run npm run deploy if a clean full pipeline is preferred.
Notes / boundaries
- This is a parse-time failure; R2 upload and GitHub→Cloudflare deploy never started in that run.
- Any future console copy inside template literals must not contain raw
`characters. - Blockers that still apply after this syntax fix: R2 credentials, then commit +
git pushfor Worker/Assets (OG files underog/tools/go viaupload:r2:og, not Cloudflare Assets).
[actions]
- Edited
scripts/deploy-site.mjs(printGithubDeployNextStepstemplate literal): drop inner backticks around.assetsignoreandog/tools/. - Verified parse with
node --check scripts/deploy-site.mjs.
